DK yarn

 

4mm needles

 

3 small buttons

 


Tension/ Gauge:  22sts = 4” (10cm)

 
Width:             16”    (41cm)


Length:            8”       (20.5cm)


Sleeve seam:   4”      (10.5cm)
 


 

JACKET

 

 

Begin with the Sleeves (work 2)

 

 

Cast on 25sts

 

 

Work 6 rows in garter stitch   (knit every row)

 

 

Work 22 rows in stocking stitch, increasing 1 stitch at each end of 3rd,  7th and 11th rows   (31sts)

 

 

The sleeve should now measure about 4” – you can add more rows if required

 

 

Next Row:  Cast off 3sts, work to last 3sts, cast off 3sts   (25sts)

 

 

Leave these 25 stitches on a spare needle

 

 

Work the Main Part

 

 

Cast on 99sts

 

 Work 6 rows in garter stitch

 

7th Row:           S1, knit to end

 

8th Row:           S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5

 

9th Row:           S1, k6, * k2tog, yrn, k1, yrn, s1, k1, psso, k5, rep from * to last 2sts, k2

 

10th Row:          S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5

 

11th Row:         S1, k5, * k2tog, yrn, k3, yrn, s1, k1, psso, k3, rep from * to last 3sts, k3

 

12th Row:         S1, k4, p3, *k1, p1, k1, p7, rep from * to last 11sts, k1, p1, k1, p3, k5

 

13th Row:             S1, k6,* p2, k1, p2, k5, rep from * to last 2sts, k2

 

14th Row:              S1, k4, p2, *k2, p1, k2, p5, rep from * to last 12sts, k2, p1, k2, p2, k5 

 

Repeat last 2 rows twice more

19th Row:             S1, knit to end

 

20th Row:             S1, k4, purl to last 5sts, k5

 

Repeat last 2 rows 7 times more

Keeping the first & last 5sts of every row as knit stitches throughout, continue as follows ~

 

 35th Row:            Work 23sts, cast off 6sts, work 40sts, cast off 6sts, work to end

 

 36th  Row:           Knit 23sts from the right front, 25sts from the first sleeve, 41sts from the back,  
                              25sts from  the second sleeve and 23sts from left front    (137 stitches)

 

 

Work the Yoke

 

 

1st Row:             K5, k2tog, k42, k2tog, k17, k2tog, k17, k2tog, knit to last 7sts, k2tog, knit to end of row   (132sts)

 

 2nd Row:               Knit

 

 3rd Row:  K1, k2tog, yfwd, k2 (for buttonhole), *(k2, k2tog), repeat from * to last 7sts, k7   (102sts)

 

 Knit 3 rows 

 

 7th Row:  K5, *(k2tog, k7), repeat from * to last 7sts, k2tog, k5                                       (91sts) 

 

 Knit 3 rows

 

 11th Row:  K8, *(k2tog, k7), repeat from * to last 2sts, k2                                                   (82sts) 

 

 Knit 3 rows

 

 15th Row:  K1, k2tog, yfwd, k2 (for buttonhole), k3, *(k2tog, k6), repeat from * to last 2sts, k2    (73sts) 

 

 Knit 3 rows

 

 19th Row:  K7, *(k2tog, k6), repeat from * to last 2sts, k2                                               (65sts)

 

 Knit 3 rows

 27th Row:  K1, k2tog, yfwd, k2 (for buttonhole), knit to end of row

 Cast off loosely

 

 

To Finish

 

 Join sleeve and underarm seams

 

 Darn away ends

 

 Sew on buttons

  1. This is very pretty. I would have loved to make it in a larger size. My niece just had a baby girl in April and she is already pretty big so this wouldn't fit her. It is gorgeous though.
